Abstract
The present invention provides a polymorphic marker found in a region of the interferon receptor gene that can be used to assess the efficacy of interferon therapy. Thus, the present invention also relates to methods of assessing the efficacy of interferon therapy in an individual and means for accomplishing such a method.
Claims36
A method for estimating the efficacy of interferon therapy in an individual to be treated with interferon comprising:
- (1) determining the genotype of an interferon receptor gene in a sample from said individual;
- and
- (2) estimating the efficacy of the interferon therapy based on the genotype of said interferon receptor gene.
A method for estimating the efficacy of interferon therapy in an individual to be treated with interferon comprising:
- (1) recording a genotype of an interferon receptor gene in a sample from said individual with a data recording means;
- (2) comparing the genotype in (1) to a matrix stored in a computer, wherein said matrix correlates the efficacy of interferon therapy with a genotype of said interferon receptor;
- and
- (3) estimating the efficacy of the interferon therapy based on the genotype of said interferon receptor gene.
A computer program, which comprises:
- (1) a means for recording a genotype of an interferon receptor gene in an individual;
- (2) a means for comparing the genotype of an interferon receptor gene in said individual to a matrix, wherein said matrix correlates the efficacy of interferon therapy with a genotype of said interferon receptor;
- and
- (3) a means for outputting the comparison of said genotype and said matrix.
A nucleic acid probe comprising 8 to 500 consecutive nucleotides of a polynucleotide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:4, SEQ ID NO:5, SEQ ID NO:6, SEQ ID NO:7, SEQ ID NO:8, SEQ ID NO:9, SEQ ID NO:10, SEQ ID NO:11, SEQ ID NO:12, and complements thereof.
A nucleic acid probe comprising at least one polynucleotide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:19, SEQ ID NO:20, SEQ ID NO:22, SEQ ID NO:23, and complements thereof.
A polynucleotide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:13, SEQ ID NO:14, SEQ ID NO:15, SEQ ID NO:16, SEQ ID NO:17 and SEQ ID NO:18.
