Abstract
A dental implement includes a wire member that forms a generally ring-shaped portion and first and second ends, which depend from the ring-shaped portion. The ring-shaped portion lies in a plane, with the first and second ends depending from the generally ring-shaped portion in a direction generally orthogonal to the plane. At least a portion of the first end touches at least a portion of the second end when in an initial resting state, wherein the first and second ends generate an inward force towards each other when separated.
Claims28
A dental implement comprising:
- a wire member forming a generally ring-shaped portion and first and second ends depending from said ring-shaped portion, said generally ring-shaped portion lying in a plane, and said first and second ends depending from said generally ring-shaped portion in a direction generally orthogonal to said plane, at least a portion of said first end touching at least a portion of said second end when in an initial resting state, and wherein said first and second ends generate an inward force towards each other when separated.
A dental implement comprising:
- a ring-shaped portion having first and second ends;
- a first depending portion extending from said first end of said ring-shaped portion;
- a second depending portion extending from said end of said ring-shaped portion;
- and
- wherein said first depending portion applies a force to said second depending portion and said second depending portion applies a force to said first depending portion in an initial uninstalled state whereby at least a portion of said first depending portion contacts at least a portion of said second depending portion.

A dental implement comprising:
- a ring-shaped metal portion having first and second ends;
- a first depending portion extending from said first end of said ring-shaped portion;
- a second depending portion extending from said end of said ring-shaped portion;
- and
- wherein said first depending portion and said second depending portion overlap in a range of about 10 degrees to 100 degrees when in an initial formed state and contact each other when moved to an initial uninstalled state wherein said first depending portion applies a force to said second depending portion in said initial uninstalled state and said second depending portion applies a force to said first depending portion in said initial uninstalled state.
