Quick release fastening system for storage devices

A storage system comprising:

• a plurality of storage devices;
• a housing assembly including a housing;
• a first fastener assembly including a first fastener that is movable between a latched position and an unlatched position, the first fastener assembly extending through at least a part of the housing assembly to secure the plurality of storage devices to the housing assembly;
• and
• a bracket including a first attachment aperture that receives the first fastener to secure the bracket to the housing assembly, wherein the bracket receives the plurality of storage devices and to secure the plurality of storage devices to the housing assembly.

A storage system comprising:

• a plurality of storage devices;
• a housing assembly including a housing and a first support rail;
• a plurality of brackets, wherein each of the plurality of brackets receives at least one of the plurality of storage devices;
• a plurality of fastener assemblies, each of the fastener assemblies including a fastener, a fastener stop and a resilient member;
• wherein for each fastener assembly the fastener is movable between a latched position and an unlatched position, the fastener has a shaft portion and a head portion, the fastener extending through at least a part of the housing assembly to secure the plurality of storage devices to the housing assembly, the fastener stop inhibits the fastener from being removed from the housing assembly, the resilient member substantially surrounding at least a part of the shaft portion of the fastener, the resilient member is biased to move the fastener from the unlatched position to the latched position;
• and
• a plurality of release assemblies, each of the release assemblies includes a release shaft and a release handle;
• wherein for each release assembly, the release shaft is adapted to move two fasteners between the latched position and the unlatched position, the release handle is coupled to the release shaft and is movable between a closed position and an open position, the release handle is adapted to move two fasteners between the latched position.

A method for fastening at least one storage device within a storage system, the method comprising the steps of:

• providing a housing assembly;
• securing the at least one storage device to the housing assembly with a first fastener assembly including a first fastener that extends through at least a part of the housing assembly, wherein the at least one storage device is secured to the housing assembly when the first fastener is in a latched position and wherein the at least one storage device can be removed from the housing assembly when the first fastener is in an unlatched position;
• and
• moving the first fastener between the latched position and the unlatched position by moving a first release shaft that moves the first fastener between the latched position and the unlatched position.

A method for fastening at least one storage device within a storage system, the method comprising:

• providing a housing assembly;
• providing a first fastener assembly including a first fastener that is movable between a latched position and an unlatched position, wherein the first fastener extends through at least a part of the housing assembly;
• and
• securing the at least one storage device to the housing assembly with a bracket, the bracket including a first attachment aperture that receives the first fastener, wherein the bracket receives at least one storage device, to secure the at least one storage device to the housing assembly when the first fastener is in the latched position.
