Abstract
An isolated nucleic acid fragment encoding a KDO 8-P synthase. A recombinant DNA construct encoding all or a portion of the KDO 8-P synthase, in sense or antisense orientation, wherein expression of the recombinant DNA construct results in production of altered levels of the KDO 8-P synthase in a transformed host cell. The isolated nucleic acid fragments encoding a KDO 8-P synthase are useful in herbicide, fungicide, bactericide, and pesticide discovery and design.
Claims17
An isolated polynucleotide comprising:
- (a) a nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide having KDO 8-P synthase activity, wherein the polypeptide has an amino acid sequence of at least 90% sequence identity, based on the Clustal V method of alignment, when compared to one of SEQ ID NO:2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 17, or
- (b) a complement of the nucleotide sequence, wherein the complement and the nucleotide sequence consist of the same number of nucleotides and are 100% complementary.
An isolated polypeptide having KDO 8-P synthase activity, wherein the polypeptide has an amino acid sequence of at least 90% sequence identity, based on the Clustal V method of alignment, when compared to one of SEQ ID NO:2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 17.
