Abstract
A fixation device suitable for fixing the positioning of at least one bone of a patient is provided. The device includes a connector with one end defining a screw fixator configured to receive an anchoring screw and a securing cap configured to maintain the screw in the screw fixator.
Claims38
A fixation device comprising:
- a connector comprising a first end and a second end, the first end including a screw fixator, wherein the screw fixator includes an opening configured to receive an anchoring screw, the anchoring screw comprising;
- a head adapted to fit at least partially within the screw fixator;
- a shaft coupled to the head and configured to be secured to a bone of a patient;
- and
- a securing cap configured to secure the anchoring screw within the screw fixator.
2 more elements
A method for stabilizing at least one bone of a patient, comprising:
- inserting an anchoring screw into a fixation device, the fixation device comprising:
- a connector comprising a first end and a second end, the first end defining a screw fixator, wherein the screw fixator defines an opening configured to receive an anchoring screw, the anchoring screw comprising:
- a head adapted to fit at least partially within the screw fixator;
- and
- a securing cap;
- threading the anchoring screw into a bone of a patient;
- advancing the anchoring screw so that the head is recessed within the screw fixator;
- and
- securing the securing cap to the screw fixator to secure the anchoring screw.
6 more elements
A fixation device comprising:
- a connector comprising a first end and a second end, the first end including a screw fixator, wherein the screw fixator includes an opening configured to receive an anchoring screw, the anchoring screw comprising;
- a head adapted to fit at least partially within the screw fixator;
- a shaft coupled to the head and configured to be secured to a bone of a patient;
- and
- a securing cap configured to secure the anchoring screw within the screw fixator, wherein the securing cap has a body with a leading end and a trailing end spaced apart by a longitudinal axis of the body and the leading end is configured to receive the head of the anchoring screw.
2 more elements
A fixation device comprising:
- a connector comprising a first end and a second end, the first end including a screw fixator configured to receive an anchoring screw, wherein the screw fixator comprises a first surface configured to be oriented away from a bone of a patient when in use and a second surface, opposite the first surface, wherein an opening extends from the first surface to the second surface, wherein the opening comprises a major opening proximate the first surface;
- and a minor opening proximate the second surface, wherein the major opening has a diameter that is greater than the diameter of the minor opening, the anchoring screw comprising;
- a head adapted to fit at least partially within the major opening;
- a shaft coupled to the head that is configured to be secured to a bone of a patient, the shaft being adapted to be received within the minor opening, wherein the shaft has a diameter that is less than the diameter of the minor opening such that the shaft is rotatably movable within the minor opening and;
- a securing cap configured to secure the anchoring screw within the screw fixator, wherein the securing cap has a body with a leading end and a trailing end spaced apart by a longitudinal axis of the body and the leading end is configured to receive the head of the anchoring screw.
