Abstract
The invention provides compounds of formula 1, R1—OP(O)(OH)2 I wherein R1 represents the non-hydroxy portion of a triazole antifungal compound of the type comprising a tertiary hydroxy group; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The compounds of the invention are useful in the treatment of fungal infections, and have good aqueous solubility.

A compound of formula 1,
- R1—OP(O)(OH)2 I
- wherein R1 represents the non-hydroxy portion of a triazole antifungal compound of the type comprising a tertiary hydroxy group;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
A compound as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, which is:
- 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-1,3-bis(l H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-2-propyl dihydrogen phosphate;
- or
- (2R,3S)-2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-3-(5-fluoro-4-pyrimidinyl)-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-2-butyl dihydrogen phosphate;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
A method of improving the aqueous solubility of a triazole antifungal compound of the type comprising a tertiary hydroxy group, which comprises converting the tertiary hydroxy group into a phosphate group, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
