Abstract
The peptide X-Arg-Gly-Asp-R-Y wherein X is H or at least one amino acid and Y is OH or at least one amino acid, and R is an amino acid selected from Thr or Cys, or other amino acid, having the same cell-attachment activity as fibronectin and the peptide X-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Y, wherein X and Y, having said activity are disclosed.
Claims18
A composition of matter which promotes the attachment of cells to a substrate when immobilized on the substrate and consisting essentially of the peptide X-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Y wherein X is H or at least one amino acid and Y is OH or at least one amino acid, said peptide being characterized in that it has substantially the same cell-attachment-promoting activity as fibronectin.
A composition of matter which promotes the attachment of cells to substrate when immobilized on the substrate and consisting essentially of the peptide X-Arg-Gly-Asp-R-Y wherein X is H or at least one amino acid and Y is OH or at least one amino acid, and R is an amino acid selected from Thr or Cys, or other amino acid characterized in that it has the same cell-attachment-promoting activity as the peptide X-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Y and fibronectin.
The method of promoting cell attachment activity comprising the steps of immobilizing on a substrate a polypeptide in which the active amino acid sequence is—Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser—and with free cells for attachment to said substrate.
A method for promoting cell attachment to a substrate comprising the method of immobilizing on the substrate a polypeptide which includes as the cell-attachment-promoting constituent the sequence —Arg-Gly-Asp-R—wherein R is Ser, Cys or Thr, or other amino acid, and with free cells for attachment to said substrate, said polypeptide having the same cell-attachment-promoting activity as fibronectin.
A method for promoting cell attachment to a substrate comprising the immobilizing on the substrate a composition of matter which promotes the attachment of suspended cells to said substrate and consisting essentially of the peptide X-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Y wherein X is H or at least one amino acid and Y is OH or at least one amino acid, said peptide being characterized in that substantially the same cell-attachment-promoting activity as fibronectin.
A method for promoting cell attachment to a substrate comprising immobilizing on the substrate a composition of matter consisting essentially of the peptide X-Arg-Gly-Asp-R-Y wherein X is H or at least one amino acid and Y is OH or at least one amino acid, and R is an amino acid selected from Thr or Cys, or another amino acid, characterized in that it has the same cell-attachment-promoting activity as the peptide X-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Y and fibronectin.
A composition of matter which inhibits the attachment of cells to a substrate when in solubilized form consisting essentially of the peptide X-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Y wherein X is H or at least one amino acid and Y is OH or at least one amino acid, said peptide being characterized in that it has substantially the same cell-attachment-promoting activity as fibronectin.
