A protein having DNA repair promoting activity which consists of the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:

• 1 or an amino acid sequence having at least 60% amino acid sequence homology to the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:
• 1.

DNA that has DNA consisting of the nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:

• 2 or a nucleotide sequence identical to the nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:
• 2 except that it undergoes deletion, substitution or addition of one or more bases and which codes for a protein having DNA repair promoting activity.

DNA that has DNA consisting of the nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:

• 2 or a nucleotide sequence hybridizable under stringent conditions with a nucleotide sequence complementary to the nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:
• 2 and which codes for a protein having DNA repair promoting activity.

DNA that has DNA consisting of a nucleotide sequence having at least 60% amino acid sequence homology to the nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:

• 2 and which codes for a protein having DNA repair promoting activity.
