The invention provides isolated nucleic acids molecules, designated collagen XXII nucleic acid molecules, which encode a novel collagen. The invention also provides antisense nucleic acid molecules, recombinant expression vectors containing collagen XXII nucleic acid molecules, host cells into which the expression vectors have been introduced, and nonhuman transgenic animals in which a collagen XXII gene has been introduced or disrupted. The invention still further provides isolated collagen XXII proteins, fusion proteins, antigenic peptides and anti-collagen XXII antibodies. Diagnostic methods utilizing compositions of the invention are also provided.
An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence at least 80% identical to the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3 or an alternatively spliced variant thereof.
An isolated nucleic acid comprising the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3.
An isolated nucleic acid consisting of the sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3, or its complement.
An isolated nucleic acid that encodes a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence which is at least 80% identical to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2 or a functional fragment thereof.
An isolated nucleic acid comprising a nucleotide sequence that hybridizes under highly stringent conditions to a nucleotide sequence consisting of SEQ ID NO:1 or 3, or its complement.
An isolated nucleic acid comprising a nucleotide sequence that hybridizes under highly stringent conditions to a nucleotide sequence that encodes a polypeptide having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2, or its complement.
An oligonucleotide probe at least 90% identical to a nucleotide sequence consisting of between 25 and 200 contiguous nucleotides of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3.
An isolated probe or primer that hybridizes under highly stringent conditions to the sense or antisense nucleic acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3, wherein the isolated probe or primer is at least 50 nucleotides in length.
