The present invention provides for a programmable, period-based, time-interval monitoring system, and method, for the managed reduction of cigarette smoking over time. The purpose of the method and device is to assist and provide information for a user to manage cigarette consumption over time, at a rate set by the user, to a goal value set by a user.
