Abstract
An auxiliary illuminating device that has an adjustable color temperature. The color temperature is adjusted by varying the light throughput of independently adjustable color filters.
Claims16
A light source with an adjustable color temperature, comprising:
- a broadband light source;
- at least one color filter having a first color;
- at least one color filter having a second color;
- the at least one color filter having the first color and the at least one color filter having the second color configured to allow light from the broad band light source to pass through the filters;
- at least one variable shutter configured to variably block the light passing through the at least one color filter having the first color;
- at least one variable shutter configured to variably block the light passing through the at least one color filter having the second color;
- a control system, the control system able to adjust the ratio of light passing through the color filter having the first color with respect to the color filter having the second color.
A light source with an adjustable color temperature, comprising:
- a broad band light source;
- at least one color filter having a first color, the color filter configured to allow light from the broad band light source to pass through the color filter;
- at least one color filter having a second color, the color filter configured to allow light from the broad band light source to pass through the color filter;
- at least one color filter having a third color, the color filter configured to allow light from the broad band light source to pass through the color filter;
- at least one variable shutter configured to variably block the light passing through the at least one color filter having the first color;
- at least one variable shutter configured to variably block the light passing through the at least one color filter having the second color;
- at least one variable shutter configured to variably block the light passing through the at least one color filter having the third color;
- a control system, the control system able to adjust the ratio of light passing through the three colors.
A light source with an adjustable color temperature, comprising:
- a broad band light source;
- a plurality of color filters having a first color, the color filters configured to allow light from the broad band light source to pass through the color filters;
- a plurality of color filters having a second color, the color filters configured to allow light from the broad band light source to pass through the color filters;
- a plurality of shutters configured to block the light passing through the plurality of color filters having the first color;
- a plurality of shutters configured to block the light passing through the plurality of color filters having the second color;
- a control system, the control system able to adjust the ratio of light passing through the color filters having the first color with respect to the color filters having the second color, by changing the number of color filters blocked by the shutters.
A method of adjusting the color temperature of a light source, comprising:
- selecting a first color temperature for the light source;
- adjusting the ratio of light output from a first filter color with respect to the light output of a broadband source such that the ratio of the light output from the color filter and broadband source generates the first color temperature for the light source;
- selecting a second color temperature for the light source;
- repeating the adjustment step to produce light that generates a second color temperature for the light source.
A method of adjusting the color temperature of a light source, comprising:
- determining the color temperature of the ambient light in a scene;
- selecting a color temperature for the light source that most closely matches the color temperature of the ambient light in the scene;
- adjusting the light output of a first color filter, the first color filter transmitting light over a first wavelength band;
- adjusting the light output of a second color filter, the second color filter transmitting light over a second wavelength band such that the ratio of the light output of the two color filters generates the selected color temperature.
A light source with an adjustable color temperature, comprising:
- a broad band light source;
- at least one color filter having a first color, the color filter configured to allow light from the broad band light source to pass through the color filter;
- at least one color filter having a second color, the color filter configured to allow light from the broad band light source to pass through the color filter;
- means for variably blocking the light passing through the at least one color filter having the first color;
- means for variable blocking the light passing through the at least one color filter having the second color;
- a control system, the control system able to adjust the ratio of light passing through the color filter having the first color with respect to the color filter having the second color.
