Abstract
A trading card having an electroluminescent feature in combination with a display stand providing a power source. When the trading card is placed in the display stand, the power source from the display stand energizes the electroluminescent feature of the trading card, thereby providing illuminated graphics and making the trading card more interactive. The trading card can include a circuit that facilitates moving graphics displays and can further drive a speaker to allow for audio in conjunction with the illumination.
Claims15
A trading card for use with a card display stand, said card display stand having an AC power supply, said trading card comprising electroluminescent material that, when placed in electrical contact with said AC power supply, provides an illuminated image on said trading card.
A trading card display stand for use in illuminating a trading card having electroluminescent material, said trading card display stand comprising:
- a card receiving channel;
- electrical contact elements within said receiving channel for interfacing with a trading card placed therein;
- and
- a power supply electrically connected to said contact elements;
- wherein, when said trading card is placed in said receiving channel, the contact elements interface with said trading card and provide for electrical conductivity between the power supply and the electroluminescent material of the trading card.
A trading card illumination system capable of illuminating portions of a trading card, comprising a card display stand and at least one trading card,
- (a) wherein said at least one trading card comprises electroluminescent material and contact strips in electrical contact with said electroluminescent material;
- and
- (b) wherein the card display stand comprises a receiving element, a plurality of electrical contact elements within said receiving element, and a power supply electrically connected to said contact elements,
- wherein, further, said contact strips of said trading card mate with said contact elements of said card display stand when said card is placed in said display stand, thereby electrically connecting said electroluminescent material to said power supply.
