Abstract
A serum-free composition comprises a conjugate of a DNA-binding protein, or a fragment thereof, and a polynucleotide. The composition is suitable for intramuscular administration, to treat disease.
Claims17
A composition comprising a conjugate of a polynucleotide and a histone protein, or a fragment of the protein which retains the ability to bind to a polynucleotide and undergo transfection, the composition being free of serum, calcium ions, chloroquine and cationic lipids.
A histone protein for the transfection of a polynucleotide, having less than 200 amino acid residues and comprising the amino acid sequence defined herein as SEQ ID NO. 2, or a functional homologue thereof.
A composition comprising a histone protein having less than 200 amino acid residues and comprising the amino acid sequence defined herein as SEQ ID NO. 2, or a functional homologue thereof;
- wherein said composition further comprises a polynucleotide.
A method for treating disease wherein said method comprises administering, to a patient in need of such treatment, an effective amount of a composition comprising a conjugate of a polynucleotide and a histone protein, or a fragment of the protein which retains the ability to bind to a polynucleotide and undergo transfection, the composition being free of serum, calcium ions, chloroquine and cationic lipids.
A method for providing therapy wherein said method comprises administering, to a patient in need of therapy, a composition comprising a histone protein, having less than 200 amino acid residues and comprising the amino acid sequence defined herein as SEQ ID NO. 2, or a functional homologue thereof;
- wherein said composition further comprises a polynucleotide.
