Abstract
An improved weight exercise apparatus having an interlocking grip bar and rotationally removable weight plates. A weight plate is attached to a socket on the grip bar and can be interlocked with additional weight plates using a simple insert and twist motion. The grip bar does not extend beyond the attached weight plates making the apparatus ergonomically friendly and aesthetically pleasing. The invention restricts the movement of interlocked weight plates to limit rattle-type noise typical of loose weights on a barbell and includes a latching mechanism to prevent a weight plate from being accidentally disconnected.
Claims21
A weight exercise apparatus comprising:
- a grip bar assembly having a handle with two ends, each end having a socket thereon;
- and
- a removable weight plate assembly attached to at least one of said sockets, said weight plate assembly comprising a weight ring with an interlocking insert hub whereby, said weight plate assembly can be rotationally interlocked with said socket and with another weight plate assembly.
A weight exercise apparatus comprising:
- a grip bar assembly having a handle with two ends;
- and
- a removable weight plate assembly attached to at least one of said ends, said weight plate assembly comprising a weight ring with an interlocking insert hub whereby, said weight plate assembly can be rotationally interlocked with said handle and with another weight plate assembly.
A method of forming an improved weight exercise apparatus comprising the steps of:
- providing an interlocking grip bar assembly having a handle with two ends, each end having a socket thereon;
- attaching a removable weight plate assembly to at least one of said sockets, said weight plate assembly comprising a weight ring with an interlocking insert hub;
- and
- rotationally interlocking said weight plate assembly with said socket.
A method of forming an improved weight exercise apparatus comprising the steps of:
- providing an interlocking grip bar assembly having a handle with two ends, each end having a socket thereon;
- rotationally interlocking a removable weight plate assembly to at least one of said sockets, said weight plate assembly comprising a weight ring with an interlocking insert hub;
- and
- rotationally interlocking said weight plate assembly with another weight plate assembly.
