Abstract
A personal care garment having side seams with a discreet or aesthetically pleasing appearance. The side seams can extend from a waist opening to each of two leg openings between a front side panel and a back side panel. In one embodiment, a ribbon cover is attached to an outer surface of the garment to secure the side seam and provide a finished, aesthetically pleasing appearance. In another embodiment, an embossing pattern can be applied to the side seam to provide a finished, aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Claims37
A personal care garment comprising:
- a front waist region, a back waist region, and a crotch region extending between the waist regions;
- a first side panel extending from the front waist region;
- a second side panel extending from the back waist region;
- a side seam connecting an edge portion of the first side panel to an edge portion of the second side panel;
- and
- a ribbon cover connected to the garment, the ribbon cover covering at least a portion of the side seam.
A disposable garment, comprising:
- a chassis comprising a front side panel and a back side panel, and defining a waist opening and first and second leg openings;
- a first side seam extending from the waist opening to the first leg opening between the front side panel and the back side panel;
- a first ribbon cover bonded to a surface of the garment and extending from the waist opening to the first leg opening, the first ribbon cover covering at least a portion of the first side seam;
- a second side seam extending from the waist opening to the second leg opening between the front side panel and the back side panel;
- and
- a second ribbon cover bonded to a surface of the garment and extending from the waist opening to the second leg opening, the second ribbon cover covering at least a portion of the second side seam.
A garment comprising:
- a front waist region, a back waist region, and a crotch region extending between the waist regions,
- a first side panel extending from the front waist region;
- a second side panel extending from the back waist region;
- a side seam connecting an edge portion of the first side panel to an edge portion of the second side panel;
- and
- an embossing pattern applied to the side seam, the embossing pattern covering at least a portion of the side seam.
A method for providing an aesthetically pleasing seam for a personal care garment, the method comprising:
- making a seaming bond to weld a front side panel and a back side panel together;
- and
- embossing a pattern atop the seaming bond, said pattern being aesthetically distinct from the seaming bond.
A method for providing an aesthetically pleasing seam for a personal care garment, the method comprising:
- making a seaming bond to weld a front side panel and a back side panel together;
- and
- bonding a ribbon cover to the garment, the ribbon cover covering at least a portion of the seaming bond.
