Compounds having the formula 1 or therapeutically acceptable salts thereof, are protein kinase inhibitors. Preparation of the compounds, compositions containing the compounds, and treatment of diseases using the compounds are disclosed.

A compound of formula (I)

- or a therapeutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein
- X is selected from the group consisting of —N— and —CRx—;
- Y is selected from the group consisting of —N— and —CRy—;
- Z is selected from the group consisting of —N— and —CRz—;
- with the proviso that at least one of Y and Z is other than —N—;
- one of Rx, Ry, Rz, and R1 is selected from the group consisting of aryl and heterocycle and the others are hydrogen;
- and
- R2 is selected from the group consisting of heterocycle and aryl;
- with the proviso that when R2 is heterocycle the heterocycle is other than imidazolyl.
