Abstract
Methods are disclosed for treating congestive heart failure with partial inhibitors of fatty acid oxidation. The compounds increase cardiac performance without affecting heart rate, blood pressure, or oxygen consumption.

A method for treating congestive heart failure in a mammal, which method comprises administering to a mammal in need of such treatment a therapeutically effective amount of a compound that partially inhibits fatty acid oxidation.
