Abstract
The invention provides polynucleotides that encode SPARC-related proteins. It also provides for the use of the polynucleotide, protein, and antibodies thereto for diagnosis and treatment of atherosclerosis and cell proliferative disorders. The invention additionally provides methods for using the polynucleotides, proteins and antibodies.

A purified protein comprising a polypeptide having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2.
An isolated antibody that specifically binds a protein having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2.
An antisense molecule of 18 to 30 nucleotides in length that specifically binds a portion of a polynucleotide having a nucleic acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:20 wherein the antisense molecule inhibits expression of the protein encoded by the polynucleotide.
