Abstract
In order to call mobile stations, mobile stations are, according to the invention, allocated to time slots for calling on the basis of subscriber-specific profiles. The number of time slots allocated for calling within a macroframe can be set individually for the mobile stations. The requirement for time slots allocated for calling is thus covered individually for each mobile station. For time-critical applications, shorter delay times can be achieved using the method according to the invention.
Claims14
Method for calling mobile stations (MS) for a packet data transmission in a time-division multiplex mobile radio system,
- a packet data channel (GPRS-K) being formed by at least one time slot (ts, T, A) per time-division multiplex frame (R), and a plurality of time-division multiplex frames (R) forming a macroframe,
- packet data transmission from a plurality of mobile stations (MS) being carried out via the common packet data channel (GPRS-K),
- at least one time slot (PPCH) for calling mobile stations (MS) being provided at cyclic intervals in the packet data channel (GPRS-K),
- in the case of which, mobile stations (MS) are allocated to time slots (PPCH) for calling on the basis of subscriber-specific profiles, in which case it is possible to set the number of time slots (PPCH) allocated within the macroframe for the mobile stations (MS) individually.
Method according to one of the preceding claims, in which a mobile station (MS) signals to a base station (BS) the change to its subscriber-specific profile, at which point the allocation of the time slots (PPCH) for this mobile station (MS) for calling is changed.
Method according to one of the preceding claims, in which time slots (TCH) for useful data transmission are also used as time slots (PPCH) for calling.
Method according to one of the preceding claims, in which a mobile station (MS) is switched to an energy-saving mode between the time slots (PPCH) allocated to it for calling.
Method according to one of the preceding claims, in which the subscriber-specific profiles are designated by different quality of service classes (QoS).
Method according to one of the preceding claims, in which the subscriber-specific profiles are designated by different services used by the mobile station (MS).
Method according to one of the preceding claims, in which the subscriber-specific profiles are designated by different priorities.
Method according to one of the preceding claims, in which the subscriber-specific profiles are designated by different permissible delay times.
Method according to one of the preceding claims, in which the subscriber-specific profiles are designated by different required data rates for packet data transmission.
Base station system (BSS) for a packet data transmission from and/or to mobile stations (MS) in a time-division multiplex mobile radio system, having a control device (SE) for controlling a radio interface between the base station system (BSS) and the mobile station (MS),
- a packet data channel (GPRS-K) being formed by at least one time slot (ts, T, A) per time-division multiplex frame (R), and a plurality of time-division multiplex frames (R) forming a macroframe,
- packet data transmission from a plurality of mobile stations (MS) being carried out via the common packet data channel (GPRS-K), and
- at least one time slot (PPCH) for calling mobile stations (MS) being provided at cyclic intervals in the packet data channel (GPRS-K),
- and the control device (SE) for calling the mobile stations (MS) allocating mobile stations (MS) to time slots (PPCH) for calling on the basis of subscriber-specific profiles, in which case it is possible to set the number of time slots (PPCH) allocated within the macroframe for the mobile stations (MS) individually.
