Abstract
A facsimile apparatus can properly detect whether or not the facsimile apparatus is connected to a line. The facsimile apparatus comprises a network control device formed of a semiconductor DAA device having a primary line control part driven by a local power supply and a secondary serial interface circuit communicating with said primary line control part through a photocoupler and a local power supply detecting part detecting a local power supply to said primary line control part. As a result, it is possible to detect whether or not the facsimile apparatus is connected to the line.
Claims18
A facsimile apparatus for detecting a connection of said facsimile apparatus to a line, comprising:
- a network control device formed of a semiconductor DAA device having a primary line control part driven by a local power supply and a secondary serial interface circuit communicating with said primary line control part through a photocoupler;
- and
- a local power supply detecting part detecting the local power supply to said primary line control part.
A facsimile apparatus for detecting a connection of said facsimile apparatus to a line wherein the facsimile apparatus has an energy-saving function, comprising:
- a local power supply detecting part switching ON/OFF depending on a local power supply;
- a determination part determining whether or not the line is properly connected;
- and
- a display part displaying a message,
- wherein said determination part determines that the line is properly connected when said local power supply detecting part is ON and that the line is not properly connected when said local power supply detecting part is OFF, and said display part displays an alert message to prompt a user to examine the connection of said facsimile apparatus to the line when said determination part determines that the line is not properly connected.
A facsimile apparatus for detecting a connection of said facsimile apparatus to a line, comprising:
- a network control device formed of a semiconductor DAA device having a primary line control part driven by a local power supply and a secondary serial interface circuit communicating with said primary line control part through a photocoupler;
- and
- local power supply detecting means for detecting the local power supply to said primary line control part.
A facsimile apparatus for detecting a connection of said facsimile apparatus to a line wherein the facsimile apparatus has an energy-saving function, comprising:
- local power supply detecting means for switching ON/OFF depending on a local power supply;
- determination means for determining whether or not the line is properly connected, said determination means determining that the line is properly connected when said local power supply detecting means is ON and that the line is not properly connected when said local power supply detecting means is OFF;
- and
- display means for displaying a message, said display means displaying an alert message to prompt a user to examine the connection of said facsimile apparatus to the line when said determination means determines that the line is not properly connected.
A method for detecting a connection of a facsimile apparatus to a line, the facsimile apparatus having a network control device formed of a semiconductor DAA device having a primary line control part driven by a local power supply and a secondary serial interface circuit communicating with said primary line control part through a photocoupler, the method comprising the steps of:
- attempting communication between said primary line control part and said secondary serial interface circuit at a predetermined time interval;
- and
- determining whether or not said facsimile apparatus is connected to said line based upon said communication.
A method for detecting a connection of a facsimile apparatus having an energy-saving function to a line, the facsimile apparatus including a local power supply detecting part that is switched ON/OFF in accordance with a local power supply, the method comprising the steps of:
- determining that the line is properly connected when said local power supply detecting part is ON;
- determining that the line is not properly connected when said local power supply detecting part is OFF;
- and
- outputting an alert message to prompt a user to examine the connection of said facsimile apparatus to the line when the line is not properly connected.
