Abstract
An automatic drain for a compressed air system can have a valve body containing an internal fluid reservoir which communicates via a main air inlet passage with a compressed air container such that fluid can flow from the air container into the internal reservoir. A filter can be provided prior to the internal reservoir so that only fluid passes into the internal reservoir. Accumulated fluid in the internal reservoir can be drained through a discharge port regulated by a valve assembly which can be opened and closed by a controller in response to the level of fluid accumulated in the internal reservoir as detected by a sensor.
Claims14
An automatic drain comprising:
- a drain body having an inlet passage and an internal fluid reservoir, said inlet passage having one end communicating with said internal reservoir and a second end connectible to a compressed air container;
- a filter disposed intermediate said internal reservoir and said inlet passage such that fluid and any entrained debris from said compressed air container passes through said filter prior to entering said internal reservoir;
- a discharge port communicating with said internal reservoir;
- a valve assembly controllable to selectively open and close said discharge port to expel said fluid from said internal reservoir.
