Abstract
A balance (1) with a balance housing (4) containing a weighing cell (15) has a weighing-load carrier (2) that is configured as a plane horizontal grate (16).

A balance (1) with a balance housing (4) containing a weighing cell (15), comprising a weighing-load carrier (2) configured as a level grate.
A method of calibrating a balance (1) that has a weighing-load carrier (2, 82) configured as a level grate (16), a load-relief system (79, 79′) cooperating with the weighing-load carrier (2), and a calibration device (5) with a calibration weight (7) and a weight-receiving element (6), wherein said calibration is performed during a weighing process and comprises the steps of:
- raising the load-relief system (79, 79′), whereby a weighing container (84) sitting on the weighing-load carrier (2, 82) and containing a weighing sample is
- 1 11 lifted off the weighing load carrier;
- 12 setting the calibration weight (7) onto the weight- 13 receiving element (6) and weighing the calibration 14 weight (7);
- 15 calculating and storing new calibration data for the 16 balance (1);
- and 17 setting the weighing container (84) back on the 18 weighing-load carrier (2, 82) by lowering the load- 19 relief system (79, 79′)
