Abstract
A framework is used for delivering data to and from a system. The framework consists of different delivery vehicles or forms to carry different types of data to and from the system. The data contains configuration information. When storing the configuration information, the framework allows the configuration information from the system to be filled in the forms. The configuration information is converted into a Generalized Markup Language (GML) format.
Claims48
A method, comprising:
- receiving a request to store configuration data of a system;
- generating one or more forms to carry the configuration data, wherein the one or more forms carry parameter data pulled from the system;
- based on the generated one or more forms, pulling the requested configuration data from the system;
- filling the one or more forms with the pulled requested configuration data;
- converting the requested configuration data on the one or more forms to a generalized markup language (GML) format;
- and
- storing the formatted configuration data.
A computer readable medium having stored thereon sequences of instructions which are executable by a digital processing system, and which, when executed by the digital processing system, cause the system to perform a method comprising:
- receiving a request to store configuration data of a system;
- generating one or more forms to carry the configuration data, wherein the one or more forms carry parameter data pulled from the system;
- based on the generated one or more forms, pulling the requested configuration data from the system;
- filling the one or more forms with the pulled requested configuration data;
- converting the requested configuration data on the one or more forms to an generalized markup language (GML) format;
- and
- storing the GML formatted configuration data.
A system, comprising:
- a processor;
- a memory coupled with the processor;
- and
- a configuration agent coupled with the memory, wherein the configuration agent collects configuration information in the system using one or more forms responsive to a request to store the configuration information, wherein the one or more forms carry parameter data associated with the configuration information and pulled from different components in the system as specified by the request, and wherein the parameter data is converted into a generalized markup language (GML) format.
A method, comprising:
- receiving a request to restore a system to a desired state, the request includes configuration information;
- generating one or more forms to carry the configuration information, wherein the one or more forms carry parameter data associated with the configuration information;
- filling the one or more forms with the parameter data;
- and
- pushing the one or more forms to the system.
A computer readable medium having stored thereon sequences of instructions which are executable by a digital processing system, and which, when executed by the digital processing system, cause the system to perform a method comprising:
- receiving a request to restore a system to a desired state, the request includes configuration information;
- generating one or more forms to carry the configuration information, wherein the one or more forms carry parameter data associated with the configuration information;
- filling the one or more forms with the parameter data;
- and
- pushing the one or more forms to the system.
A system, comprising:
- a processor;
- a memory coupled with the processor;
- and
- a configuration agent coupled with the memory, wherein the configuration agent provides configuration information for the system using one or more forms responsive to a request to restore the system to a desired configuration state, wherein the one or more forms carry parameter data associated with the configuration information and pushed to different components in the system as specified by the request, and wherein the parameter data is converted from an existing format a format understandable by the system.
