Abstract
Methods for treating CMV and CMV-related diseases are provided that use compounds having the formula: 1 wherein the subscripts m and n are each independently integers from 1 to 2; and the R groups are as defined in the specification.
Claims16
A method for treating CMV or CMV-related diseases in a host, comprising administering to said host an effective amount of a compound of formula I:
- 57
- wherein
- Ar is a substituted or unsubstituted 5-14 membered heteroaryl group or a substituted or unsubstituted (C6-C14)aryl group;
- L is a substituted or unsubstituted linkage having from two to fourteen contiguous chain atoms selected from the group consisting of C, N, O, P and S;
- and
- R1 and R2 are each independently selected from the group consisting of (C1-C4)alkyl;
- wherein any alkyl portions of L, R1 and R2 are optionally substituted with from one to four substituents selected from halo, OR′, SR′, S(O)pR′, and CO2R′, in which R′ is H or a (C1-C4)alkyl group, and the subscript p is 1 or 2;
- or R1 and R2 are optionally combined with the nitrogen atom to which each is attached to form a ring selected from aziridine, azetidine, pyrrolidine, piperidine, imidazoline, piperazine and morpholine, each of the rings being optionally substituted with from one to three substituents selected from (C1-C4)alkyl, phenyl, phenyl(C1-C4)alkyl, hydroxy, hydroxy(C1-C4)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkoxy(C1-C4)alkyl and di(C1-C4)alkylamino(C1-C4)alkyl.

A compound having the formula:
- 63
- wherein
- the subscripts m and n are each independently integers from 1 to 2;
- R1 and R2 are each independently selected from the group consisting of (C1-C4)alkyl, wherein the alkyl portions are optionally substituted with OH or (C1-C4)alkoxy groups;
- or R1 and R2 are optionally combined with the nitrogen atom to which each is attached to form a ring selected from the group consisting of aziridine, azetidine, pyrrolidine, piperidine, imidazoline, piperazine and morpholine, each of said rings being optionally substituted with from one to three substituents selected from the group consisting of (C1-C4)alkyl, phenyl, phenyl(C1-C4)alkyl, hydroxy, hydroxy(C1-C4)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkoxy(C1-C4)alkyl and di(C1-C4)alkylamino(C1-C4)alkyl;
- and
- R3 and R4 are each independently selected from the group consisting of (C1-C4)alkyl, or when taken together with the nitrogen atom to which each is attached, form a ring selected from the group consisting of aziridine, azetidine, pyrrolidine and piperidine which is optionally substituted with one or two (C1-C4)alkyl groups.
