Abstract

The invention pertains to a method for preparing pseudoephedrine tannate by reacting pseudoephedrine free base at a temperature of about 70 to about 110° C. with tannic acid neat or as an aqueous slurry containing about 5 to about 30 wt. % water.

Dependent claims

A method for preparing pseudoephedrine tannate comprising reacting pseudoephedrine free base with tannic acid at a temperature of about 50 to about 115° C., and thereafter recovering the resultant diphenhydramine tannate.
