Abstract
A system and method for saving game data. A system automatically or manually saves game data. The system saves two copies of the game data. When a user reaches a point of achievement, the system saves a new copy of game data over one of the previous copies. If the new copy of game data is unsatisfactory, then the system maintains the other previous copy of the game data. If the new copy of the game data is satisfactory, then the system copies the new game data over the previous game data.
Claims32
A method of saving game data of a game, the method comprising:
- saving two copies of data representing a state of the game to a storage medium;
- saving a new copy of data representing a state of the game to the storage medium such that one of the two copies is overwritten;
- checking the new copy of data to determine whether the new copy of data is satisfactory;
- saving, if the new copy of data is satisfactory, another new copy of data to the storage medium such that the other of the two copies is overwritten;
- and
- maintaining, if the new copy of the data is unsatisfactory, the other of the two copies of data on the storage medium.
A system for saving game data of a game, the system comprising:
- a first module configured to save two copies of data representing a state of the game to a storage medium;
- a second module configured to save a new copy of data representing a state of the game to the storage medium such that one of the two copies is overwritten;
- a third module configured to check the new copy of data to determine whether the new copy of data is satisfactory;
- a fourth module configured to save, if the new copy of data is satisfactory, another new copy of data to the storage medium such that the other of the two copies is overwritten;
- and
- a fifth module configured to maintain, if the new copy of the data is unsatisfactory, the other of the two copies of data on the storage medium.
A system for saving game data of a game, the system comprising:
- first means for saving initial copies of data representing a state of the game to a storage medium;
- second means for saving a new copy of data representing a state of the game to the storage medium such that one of the two copies is overwritten;
- third means for checking the new copy of data to determine whether the new copy of data is satisfactory;
- fourth means for saving, if the new copy of data is satisfactory, another new copy of data to the storage medium such that the other of the two copies is overwritten;
- and
- fifth means for maintaining, if the new copy of the data is unsatisfactory, the other of the two copies of data on the storage medium.
A computer-readable medium, comprising:
- first instructions for saving two copies of data representing a state of a game to a storage medium;
- second instructions for saving a new copy of data representing a state of the game to the storage medium such that one of the two copies is overwritten;
- instructions for checking the new copy of data to determine whether the new copy of data is satisfactory;
- third instructions for saving, if the new copy of data is satisfactory, another new copy of data to the storage medium such that the other of the two copies is overwritten;
- and
- instructions for maintaining, if the new copy of the data is unsatisfactory, the other of the two copies of data on the storage medium.
