Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing endometriosis. The method comprises obtaining a sample of menstrual blood, measuring basal cells in said sample or measuring at least one gene product typical for cells of the basal endometrium in said sample and correlating said measurement to the diagnosis of endometriosis.

A method for diagnosing endometriosis, said method comprising
- (a) obtaining a sample of menstrual blood
- (b) measuring basal cells in said sample or
- (c) measuring at least one gene product typical for cells of the basal endometrium in
- said sample and
- (d) correlating the measurement in (b) or (c) to the diagnosis of endometriosis.

- (b) measuring the amount of at least one gene product typical for basal cells in said sample,
- (c) measuring the amount of a gene product from cells of the functionalis of the endometrium in said sample,

- (e) correlating said relative amount (d) to endometriosis.
