Abstract
An emission control device for an engine is provided. The device includes an oxidation catalyst receiving exhaust gases from the engine. The catalyst heats the exhaust gases when the exhaust gases are rich of stoichiometry. The device further includes a combined particulate filter and NOx trap adjacent and downstream of the catalyst for storing NOx and particulate matter in exhaust gases from the engine.
Claims8
An emission control device for an engine, said device comprising:
- an oxidation catalyst receiving exhaust gases from said engine, said catalyst heating said exhaust gases when said exhaust gases are rich of stoichiometry;
- and
- a combined particulate filter and NOx trap adjacent and downstream of said catalyst for storing NOx and particulate matter in exhaust gases from said engine.
An emission control device for an engine, said device comprising:
- an oxidation catalyst receiving exhaust gases from said engine;
- and
- a combined NOx trap and particulate filter coupled proximate and downstream of said oxidation catalyst, said NOx trap and particulate filter having a first wall configured to remove NOx and particulate matter from said exhaust gases.
