1. A wind propelled vehicle comprising: (a) an airfoil assembly comprising a plurality of airfoils fixedly joined, for which exist many configurations; (b) means to control orientation of said airfoil assembly, in both yaw and pitch, in relation to a relative wind; said means preferrably being a rudder and horizontal stabilizer with elevator; (c) traction means to control direction of movement of said vehicle relative to a support medium; said support medium being, for example, water, land, ice, snow, marsh, tundra, mud, rails, cables, or guides; said traction means being, for example, pontoons, hydrofoils, skis, skates, runners or wheels; and said traction means being substantially coplanar. The vehicle is wind-propelled by controlling the angle of the relative wind to produce a horizontal (sideways) lift force on the airfoil assembly and by controlling the traction means to use that force to cause forward motion. Airborne operation is achieved by changing the angle of the relative wind to produce vertical (upward) lift force on the airfoil assembly. Airborne flight is made stable by proper position of center of gravity of vehicle. Controlled airborne operation is allowed by said orientation means plus ailerons. With additional motor or substantial updraft, sustained airborne operation is possible.
A vehicle capable of travel on a support medium such as water, land, ice, snow, marsh, tundra, mud, rails, cables or guides;
A vehicle capable of travel on water, comprising:
