An essential component of the SZ-stranded slotted core cable is the cylindrical central element (ZE), on whose jacket run several slots open to the outside, located next to each other in the form of a spiral with periodically changing rotation direction. Due to their bending characteristics, the optical fiber ribbons (LB) arranged in a stack (BS) one above the other in the slot (K) take up a preferred orientation, so that the cable shows two distinct main axes with different bending behavior. The disadvantages associated with this (f.e. strong mechanical stress of the outer optical fiber ribbons located in the stack) can be avoided, by adding an equal lay stranding over the SZ-stranding imposed on the optical fiber ribbons by the slot path. The latter is produced by a synchronous rotation of the optical fiber ribbons around their longitudinal axis, where the rotation angle is 360° per lay length.
