An electrode for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, which is a porous gas diffusion electrode comprising a catalyst powder and an ion exchange resin, wherein a solvent-soluble fluorine-containing polymer having substantially no ion exchange groups exists at least at a part of the inner surface of pores of the electrode.
A polymer electrolyte fuel cell comprising a solid polymer electrolyte membrane made of an ion exchange membrane and a pair of electrodes disposed on both sides of the membrane, wherein at least one of the pair of electrodes is a porous gas diffusion electrode comprising a catalyst powder and an ion exchange resin, and a solvent-soluble fluorine-containing polymer having substantially no ion exchange groups exists at least at a part of the inner surface of pores of the electrode.
A method for producing a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, which comprises forming a mixture comprising a solution having a solvent-soluble fluorine-containing polymer dissolved in a solvent, a catalyst powder and an ion exchange resin to form a porous gas diffusion electrode, and bonding the electrode to an ion exchange membrane.
A method for producing a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, which comprises spraying a solution having a solvent-soluble fluorine-containing polymer dissolved in a solvent to a porous diffusion electrode comprising a catalyst powder and an ion exchange resin, and bonding the electrode to an ion exchange membrane.
A method for producing a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, which comprises impregnating a porous diffusion electrode comprising a catalyst powder and an ion exchange resin, in a solution having a solvent-soluble fluorine-containing polymer dissolved in a solvent, and bonding the electrode to an ion exchange membrane.
