Abstract
Process for producing mammals with defined genetic properties, particularly transgenic mammals. Animals which are derived completely from ES cells are obtained by injecting totipotent cells (embryonic stem cells or embryonic germ cells) genetically manipulated and cultured in vitro into tetraploid blastocysts and implanting the resulting embryo in a foster mother, in a single operation.
Claims8
Process for producing mammals derived from totipotent cells, with defined genetic properties, particularly transgenic mammals in which totipotent cells of the same mammalian species are introduced into blastocysts and the resulting embryo is transferred into a foster mother, characterised in that totipotent cells with defined genetic properties are introduced into tetraploid blastocysts.
Process according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the totipotent cells are introduced into tetraploid blastocysts by microinjection.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
