Abstract
A laser beam having a line-shaped beam profile with a following cooling spot in order to increase thermomechanic tension which is moved along a separating line having predefined contours is known in prior art. In order to cut out a given contour using simple mean, (free-shape cut) the method according to the invention relates to a line-shaped bum spot (1) generated on a work piece. Said spot is of significantly increased intensity at both ends (1a, 1b). Said spot is moved along the cut line (2) in such a way that both said ends lie on the cut line (2) and the length (S) thereof depends on the curvature of the contour of the cut line (2).
Claims7
A method for cutting flat work pieces made of a brittle material in which a laser beam having a linear beam profile followed by a cold spot is moved along a dividing line having a specified contour,
- wherein, to make freeform cuts on the work piece, a linear focal point having significant intensity increases on both ends is produced, in which said focal point at least 60% of the beam output is concentrated at the ends of the linear focal point, and which said focal point is moved along the dividing line in such a fashion that both ends lie on the dividing line even when the dividing line is curved, and the length of said focal point is thereby adjusted as a function of the curvature of the contour of the dividing line.
A device for carrying out the method according to one of the claims 1 through 5,
- wherein an optical system for producing a linear focal point (1) having significant intensity increases at both ends (1a, 1b) is provided, in which said both ends at least 60% of the beam output is concentrated, which said optical system is coupled to a numerical trajectory control device (4) via a profile control device (3) such that, even when the dividing lines are curved, both ends of the linear focal point (1) are positioned on the dividing line (2) of the freeform cut, and the length of the focal point is adjusted as a function of the curvature of the contour of the dividing line (2).
