Abstract
A wire fixing portion (26) with a substantially U-shaped cross section that projects from an edge section of a wire draw-out opening (22) of a wire cover (20). The wire fixing portion (26) has a pair of bundling holes (28) through which a bundling band (40) can be introduced for bundling wires (W). In order to fix the wires (W) to the wire cover (20), the bundling band (40) is put on the wires (W) and the wire fixing portion (26) to fasten the wires (W). At this time, the wires (W) can be firmly fixed to the wire fixing portion (26) by suitably selecting a mounting path of the bundling band (40) based on the number of the wires (W) to be fixed and the outer diameter thereof.
Claims12
A wire cover (20) mountable on a housing (10) for accommodating a plurality of terminal fittings (12) connected with ends of wires (W), the wire cover (20) substantially covering portions (WC) of the wires (W) drawn out from the housing (10), comprising:
- a wire fixing portion (26) which extends from an edge of a wire draw-out opening (22) through which the wires (W) can be drawn out, and around which a bundling band (40) for bundling the wires (W) is mountable to fasten the wire fixing portion (26) together with the wires (W), the wire fixing portion (26) comprising at least one bundling hole (28) dimensioned for receiving the bundling band to define a plurality of optional mounting paths (P1;
- P2;
- P3) for the bundling band (40).
A connector having a housing (10) with a wire draw-out opening (22), a wire cover (20) mountable on the housing (10) for at least partly covering the wire draw-out opening (22), a wire fixing portion (26) extending from an edge of a wire draw-out opening (22) and around which a bundling band (40) is mountable to fasten wires (W) to the wire fixing portion (26), the wire fixing portion (26) comprising at least one bundling hole (28) dimensioned for receiving the bundling band (40) to define a plurality of mounting paths (P1;
- P2;
- P3) for the bundling band (40).
A fastening method for fastening a plurality of wires (W) to a wire cover (20), the cover (20) being mountable on a housing (10) for substantially covering portions (WC) of the wires (W) drawn out from the housing (10), the cover (20) having a wire draw-out opening (22) and a wire fixing portion (26) extending from an edge of the wire draw-out opening (22), at least one bundling hole (28) being formed in the wire fixing portion (26), the method comprising the steps of:
- drawing the plurality of wires (W) out from the draw-out opening (22);
- selecting a mounting path (P1;
- P2;
- P3) from a plurality of mounting paths (P1-P3) depending on cross-section dimensions of the plurality of the wires (W);
- and
- arranging a bundling band (40) on the selected mounting path (P1;
- P2;
- P3) to fix the wires (W) to the wire fixing portion (26), wherein at least one mounting path (P2;
- P3) is defined by the at least one bundling hole (28) of the wire fixing portion (26).
