Abstract
A wideband differential amplifier includes a first differential stage connected to a Miller stage allowing an open-loop gain increase. The Miller stage includes a current source and a resistive-capacitive network causing a feedback into the current source. The feedback includes a portion of a Miller stage output signal having a high frequency range to move a bias point of the current source within the high frequency range. Thus, a gain of the Miller stage significantly increases towards the bias point.
Claims7
A differential amplifier circuit designed to operate within a frequency band, having first and second input electrodes (E1, E2) and first and second output electrodes (O1, O2), the circuit comprising:
- a first stage comprised of first and second transistors (10, 20) of identical polarity and assembled so as to constitute a differential amplifier, said first and second transistors being fed by first and second mirror current sources (11, 21) respectively, the current of which is controlled by a control circuit supporting common mode (2, 3, 4, 5);
- a second Miller gain stage comprising third and fourth transistors (12, 22) of opposite type from said first and second transistors (10, 20), the inputs of which receive output signals from the first stage, and fed by a third and a fourth current source, respectively, said third and fourth current sources being controlled by a bias voltage (Vgs) into which a portion of the output signal (O1, O2) is high-frequency fed back, via a resistive-capacitive circuit (32, 42, 33, 43), so as to move the bias point of third and fourth current sources and thus significantly increase said second stage gain towards the right-most end of said frequency band.
