Abstract
A medical diagnostic system, for example, an X-ray examination apparatus, comprises a local group of functions which are only locally adjustable and a global group of functions which can be remotely adjusted. Preferably, functions in both groups can be remotely installed, but the functions in the local group can be activated only locally. Preferably, local activation is performed on the basis of an authorization.

A medical diagnostic system which comprises a plurality of adjustable functions, in which
- a local group of adjustable functions are activatable only at the site of the medical diagnostic system, and
- a global group of adjustable functions are activatable on the basis of communication with a service center remote from the medical diagnostic system.
A medical diagnostic system comprising:
- a data processor having a group of adjustable functions for operating the medical diagnostic system at a local site, the group of adjustable functions being adjustable by a service center in a remote connection with the data processor, the group of adjustable functions comprising:
- a local group of adjustable functions, the local group of adjustable functions requiring an authorization at the local site for activation of an adjustment to the local group of adjustable functions by the service center;
- and
- a global group of adjustable functions, the global group of adjustable functions requiring an authorization at either the local site or at a remote site for activation of an adjustment to the global group of adjustable functions by the service center.
A method of controlling a medical diagnostic system comprising the steps of:
- sending operating data from a remote service center to the medical diagnostic system, the medical diagnostic system located at a local site;
- and
- adjusting a plurality of adjustable functions for operating the medical diagnostic system using the service center, wherein the plurality of adjustable functions comprises a local group of functions and a global group of functions, the local group of functions requiring an authorization at the local site for activation of an adjustment to the local group of adjustable functions by the service center.
