Abstract
The present invention relates to a dietary supplement for the treatment of obesity, including both weight loss and reduction of weight gain. Pursuant to the invention, a decoction of a herbal mixture, comprising rhubarb, red saga root, astragalus, turmeric, and dried ginger and various combinations thereof, provides therapeutic weight loss as well as lipid reduction and change body composition. The invention includes methods of manufacture and administration and also includes the herbal decoction in various forms of administration and in combination with food.
Claims26
An herbal composition for effecting weight reduction comprising:
- rhubarb, turmeric, astragalus root, red sage root, and ginger root.
A method of preparing an herbal decoction comprising:
- soaking rhubarb in water to yield a rhubarb-water mixture;
- soaking at least one of turmeric, astragalus root, red sage root, and ginger root to yield an herbal mixture;
- boiling the herbal mixture;
- adding the rhubarb-water mixture to the herbal mixture, resulting in a rhubarb-herbal mixture;
- heating the rhubarb-herbal mixture without boiling,
- allowing the rhubarb-herbal mixture to cool;
- filtering the cooled rhubarb-herbal mixture to collect the liquid extract;
- and
- processing the liquid extract to concentrate the non-aqueous components.
A filtered liquid composition comprised of a decoction of rhubarb and at least one of turmeric, astragalus root, red sage root, or ginger root.
