Abstract
The invention concerns a joint comprising a flat metal core made of soft steel, coated on each of its surfaces with a layer of elastomer bound by constituents ensuring its adherence on the metal, the thickness of the elastomer varying on the joint surface, depending on the shape of the parts between which the joint is designed to be mounted and the sealing requirements at each point on the joint surface, the elastomer being cold deposited on each joint surface, then the whole assembly being placed in a heated mould, for forming the elastomer before vulcanisation.
Claims10
A static gasket, characterized by the fact that it has a flat metal core (3) made of soft steel, coated on each of its sides with an layer of elastomer (4) bonded with compounds that make it adhere to the metal;
- the thickness of the elastomer (4) varies on the surface of the seal, depending on the shape of the pieces between which the gasket is intended to be mounted and the sealing requirements at each point on the surface of the gasket;
- the elastomer is deposited cold on each side of the gasket, then the whole thing is placed in a heated mold, designed to mold the elastomer, then vulcanize it.
