Abstract
An oil cooling arrangement for a stacked plate type clutch assembly including a separator plate between two clutch disc plates. The separator plate assembly has two annular plates lying adjacent one another with at least one shallow channel formed in a plate which defines with the other plate an oil flow passage through the separator assembly.
Claims12
A secondary oil cooling system for a stacked plate type clutch package assembly which includes alternately spaced separator plates and clutch plates, the stacked plates defining a central region and a substantially outward cylindrical configuration, comprising:
- a supply of cooling oil in the central region for producing outward oil flow to the plate assembly;
- a flow defining structure to permit oil to pass in an outward direction in heat exchange contact with the plate assembly.
In a stacked plate clutch assembly with clutch disc plates and at least one separator plate, a separator plate between two clutch disc plates, comprising:
- the separator plate assembly having two substantially flat plate members oriented with respect to one another in end face-to-end face relationship;
- said separator plate members having at least one shallow channel formed thereacross with a depth only partial with respect to the plate's thickness wherein when the first and second plate members are oriented together to form the separator assembly a passage is formed for oil flow.
In a stacked plate clutch assembly with clutch disc plates and at least one separator plate, a separator plate between two clutch disc plates, comprising:
- the separator plate assembly having two substantially flat and identical plate members oriented with respect to one another in end face-to-end face relationship;
- each of said separator plate members having at least one shallow channel formed thereacross and with a depth only partial with respect to the plate's thickness wherein when the two plate members are oriented one to another into the separator plate assembly the channels of each plate member are aligned to define a passage through the separator plate for flow of cooling oil along the surfaces of the plate members.
