Abstract
The present invention revolutionizes a scale modelers ability to quickly and easily create realistic scale roads or paved surfaces by allowing the said user to create said road or road system in any size, shape or configuration. This work is to be performed on a work bench thus saving much back and muscle ache(s) from the necessity to lean over a layout or scale model scene to create a road or road system in place. The present invention will remain flexible in it's completed form allowing for placement onto varying ground elevations and hill grades.
Claims6
The present invention relates to a system for creating realistic looking scale sized roads including but not limited to rural roads, urban roads, city roads, highway roads, bike paths, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots or any paved surface in any size, shape or configuration consisting of the steps of:
- (a.) Creating a template utilizing a piece or pieces of paper (any type or grade) and household scissors to create an exact replica of the intended road system on a scale model or layout including all branch roads, parking lots, driveways, etc. to be used as a template to create said road system. Example (FIG. 1)
- (b.) Tracing a line (FIG. 2, 13) around the paper template (FIG. 2, 11) exactly to the template's edges onto any type of flexible plastic sheet (FIG. 2, 10) using a household indelible ink marker (FIG. 2, 15).
- (c.) Spreading out the aforementioned wet paste (FIG. 3, 12)) to a thickness between (but not critical) ⅛th inch to {fraction (1/16)}th inch to cover the area encompassed by the outline (FIG. 3, 13) drawn on the plastic sheet (FIG. 3, 10).
- (d) Wet paste (FIG. 4, 12) will be spread out to be level and smooth utilizing a common wall scraper (FIG. 4, 17) as said leveler and allowed to dry.
- (e.) Utilizing a phenomena whereby the drying paste absorbs (transfers) all or part of the ink from the line drawn onto the plastic sheet (FIG. 5, 13) the modeler will employ the use of household scissors (FIG. 6, 18) to cut along said transferred lines on the bottom of the dried paste (FIG. 6, 12a) thus producing a road or road system that will exactly match the previously constructed paper template referred to in claim l,a.
- (f.) User will orient the road so that it lays face up in the position(s) indicated by the shape and placement of the paper template on the intended scale scene or layout (FIG. 7).
A wet, aggregate mix paste that will remain flexible when dried.
Method for employing a plastic sheet (FIG. 1, 10) to be used as a foundation for spreading out the wet paste in a flat and level manner and the easy release of the dried paste in one piece (FIG. 5, 12a) from the plastic sheet (FIG. 5, 10).
