Abstract
A method for skin treatment comprises the steps of delivering at least one pulse of radio frequency power to at least one electrode in order to create an electric field; passing gas through the electric field in order to form plasma from the gas; and applying the plasma to the surface of skin. The amount of radio frequency power may be relatively low such that the application of plasma causes denaturation of collagen within the collagen-containing tissue beneath the skin surface, which may promote the generation of new collagen within the collagen-containing tissue.
Claims33
A method of skin treatment, comprising the steps of:
- generating at least one pulse of a hot gas;
- and
- applying said at least one pulse of hot gas to a surface of skin, wherein the application of said at least one pulse of hot gas to the surface of skin causes denaturation of collagen within collagen-containing tissue beneath the skin surface without causing the complete removal of epidermis at said surface of skin.
A method of skin treatment, comprising the steps of:
- delivering at least one pulse of radio frequency power to at least one electrode in order to create an electric field;
- passing gas through said electric field in order to form plasma from said gas;
- and
- applying said plasma to a surface of skin, wherein the application of plasma to the surface of skin causes denaturation of collagen within collagen-containing tissue beneath the skin surface without causing the complete removal of epidermis at said surface of skin.
A method of skin treatment, comprising the steps of:
- generating at least one pulse of a hot gas;
- and
- applying said at least one pulse of hot gas to a surface of skin,
- wherein the application of said at least one pulse of hot gas provides a temperature rise of up to 22.7° C. according to the copper disc test.
A method of skin treatment, comprising the steps of:
- delivering at least one pulse of radio frequency power to at least one electrode to create an electric field;
- passing gas through said electric field in order to form plasma from said gas;
- and
- applying said plasma to the surface of skin, such that the application of plasma to the surface of skin causes denaturation of collagen with collagen-containing tissue beneath the skin surface,
- wherein said at least one pulse of radio frequency power has an energy such as to produce a temperature rise of up to 22.7° C. under the copper disc test.
