Abstract
Nucleic acid molecule that comprise an incomplete hepatitis C viral genome including specifically disclosed DNA sequences are disclosed. Pharmaceutical compositions that contain nucleic acid molecules comprising an incomplete hepatitis C viral genome including a nucleotide sequence encoding a complete hepatitis C core protein operably linked to regulatory elements functional in human cells are disclosed. Methods of immunizing individuals susceptible to or infected by hepatitis C virus comprising the step of administering such pharmaceutical compositions are disclosed.
Claims21
A nucleic acid molecule comprising an incomplete hepatitis C viral genome, said nucleic acid molecule encoding a protein having an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID No:
- 2:
A pharmaceutical composition comprising
- a) a nucleic acid molecule comprising an incomplete hepatitis C viral genome, said nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a complete hepatitis C core protein having amino acid of SEQ ID NO:
- 2 operably linked to regulatory elements functional in human cells;
- and
- b) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising
- a) a nucleic acid molecule comprising an incomplete hepatitis C viral genome, said nucleic acid molecule comprising at least a fragment of the hepatitis C virus 5′ untranslated region including the last 9 nucleotides and a nucleotide sequence encoding a complete hepatitis C core protein operably linked to regulatory elements functional in human cells;
- and
- b) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent.
A method of immunizing an individual susceptible to or infected by hepatitis C virus comprising the step of:
- administering an amount of plasmid pHCV2-1 or plasmid pHCV4-2 effective to induce a protective or therapeutic immune response against hepatitis C virus infection.
