The present invention provides isolated canine AR protein, DNA molecules encoding said protein, vectors and cells carrying said DNA molecules, specific bind partners for the protein, and methods of discovering ligands for canine AR.

An isolated proteinaceous molecule having canine AR activity, wherein said proteinaceous molecule comprises an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2, or an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2 with one or more conservative substitutions therein.
