A borate salt of formula (I)
- Mn+[BFx(CyF2y+1−zHz)4−x]n− (I)
- in which:
- 1<x<3,
- 1≦y≦8,
- 0≦z≦2y+1,
- 1≦n≦3, and
- M is a monovalent to trivalent cation or an aromatic heterocyclic cation, with the proviso that M is not potassium or barium.
