Abstract
An optical pickup device is positioned in confronting relationship to an optical disc for reading an information signal from and/or writing an information signal on the optical disc. The optical pickup device includes an optical unit having at least a light source for emitting a light beam and a photodetector for detecting a light beam returned from the optical recording medium, and a converging system for converging the light beam emitted from the light source onto a signal recording surface of the optical recording medium. The optical unit includes a light guide for guiding the light beam toward the converging system and a light-transmissive optical plate covering the light guide.
Claims16
An optical pickup device adapted to be positioned in confronting relationship to an optical recording medium for reading an information signal from and/or writing an information signal on the optical recording medium, comprising:
- an optical unit having at least a light source for emitting a light beam and a photodetector for detecting a light beam returned from the optical recording medium;
- and
- a converging system for converging the light beam emitted from said light source onto a signal recording surface of the optical recording medium;
- said optical unit including a light guide for guiding the light beam toward said converging system and a light-transmissive optical plate covering said light guide.
An optical disc device adapted to be positioned in confronting relationship to an optical disc for reading an information signal from and/or writing an information signal on the optical disc, comprising:
- a drive mechanism for rotating the optical disc;
- an optical pickup comprising an optical unit having at least a light source for emitting a light beam and a photodetector for detecting a light beam returned from the optical recording medium, and a converging system for converging the light beam emitted from said light source onto a signal recording surface of the optical disc;
- and
- a moving mechanism for moving said optical pickup with respect to the optical disc in a radial direction of the optical disc;
- said optical unit including a light guide for guiding the light beam toward said converging system and a transparent optical plate covering said light guide.
