Locking apparatus for doors of housings or cabinets having in particular narrow frame profiles (62), with a bolt mechanism (63) that is longitudinally guided in the frame profile (62) of the cabinet or housing, and with a door plate (10) that can be fixed to the exterior of the door leaf (60), and in which a handle (13) can be pulled out of the plane of said door plate (10) and in its inserted position in said door plate (10) can be locked and unlocked by means of a lock in said door plate (10), whereby arranged in the intermediate space located between said door leaf (60) and said door plate (10) are at least one pinion (18) coupled to said handle (13) and one transfer member that is driven by said pinion (18) and that can, for longitudinally displacing it, be coupled to said bolt mechanism (63) arranged in said frame profile (62) of said cabinet or housing, and whereby said door plate (10) has at least one member that is for receiving said lock and that extends through said door leaf (60) in a through-hole (64) arranged outside of said frame profile (62), and whereby said door plate (10) has a first door plate area (11) receiving said handle (13) and a second door plate area (12), characterized in that said first door plate area (11) receiving said handle (13) with said pinion (18) borne on the interior-side of said door plate (10) is arranged in front of said frame profile of said cabinet or housing with said bolt mechanism located therein, and, guided as a transfer member in the gap existing between pinion (18) and the exterior wall of said first door plate area (11), is a toothed rod (25) that is arranged parallel to said door leaf and that on its leading edge (27) has teeth (28) that engage in said pinion teeth (20) and that has on its surface facing said frame profile a connecting element (29) for said bolt mechanism arranged in said frame profile of the housing or cabinet, and in that said second door plate area (12) located outside of said frame profile before the at least one through-hole of said door leaf has a mount (37) for said lock for said handle (13) that is arranged in said second door plate area (12), whereby said lock when actuated causes the release of said handle (13) via a bolt plate (33) that spans said first and second door plate areas (11, 12) and that is displaceable against the effect of a spring.
