Abstract

A control system, and a control method, of a nuclear power plant capable of easily executing automatic output regulation by an automatic power regulator system even when a maximum linear heat generation rate and a minimum critical power ratio are determined in a short cycle by using brief calculation. While a core monitoring system does not calculate a maximum linear heat generation rate and a minimum critical power ratio, they are determined by utilizing the maximum linear heat generation rate and the minimum critical power ratio calculated by the core monitoring system as well as plant data, and the maximum linear heat generation rate and the minimum critical power ratio so determined are compared with thermal limit values set in advance for them. The automatic power regulator system holds a control signal when at least one of the maximum linear heat generation rate and the minimum critical power ratio exceeds the thermal limit values.

Dependent claims

A control system of a nuclear power plant comprising:

a core monitoring system for determining a maximum linear heat generation rate and a minimum critical power ratio in a certain time interval;
an automatic thermal limit monitor for determining said maximum linear heat generation rate and said minimum critical power ratio by utilizing said maximum linear heat generation rate and said minimum critical power ratio determined by said core monitoring system when calculation of said maximum linear heat generation rate and said minimum critical power ratio by said core monitoring system is not effected, comparing said maximum linear heat generation rate and said minimum critical power ratio so determined with thermal limit values set in advance for them, respectively, and outputting an operation hold instruction when at least one of said maximum linear heat generation rate and said minimum critical power ratio exceeds said thermal limit values;
and
an automatic power regulator system for outputting control signals to a re-circulation flow control system for controlling a re-circulation flow rate of a reactor and to a control rod control system for controlling the positions of control rods, and holding said control signals when said automatic thermal limit monitor outputs said operation hold instruction.

A method of controlling a nuclear power plant comprising the steps of:

determining a maximum linear heat generation rate and a minimum critical power ratio by a core monitoring system;
determining a maximum linear heat generation rate and a minimum critical power ratio by utilizing said maximum linear heat generation rate and said minimum critical power ratio determined by said core monitoring system and plant data when the calculation of said maximum linear heat generation rate and said minimum critical power ratio is not effected by said core monitoring system;
comparing said maximum linear heat generation rate and said minimum critical power ratio so determined with thermal limit values set in advance for them, respectively;
and
holding a control signal outputted from an automatic power regulator system to a re-circulation flow control system and to a control rod control system when at least one of said maximum linear heat generation rate and said minimum critical power ratio exceeds said thermal limit values.
