Abstract
This invention relates to a method of inhibiting the growth of barium sulfate scaling by using a synergistic blend of (a) a polyphosphate with degree of polymerization between 6 and 21, and (b) a polyphosphate with degree of polymerization of 2-3.

A barium sulfate scale inhibiting composition comprising:
- (a) a polyphosphate with degree of polymerization between 6 and 21, and
- (b) an effective barium sulfate inhibiting amount of a polyphosphate with degree of polymerization 2-3,
- wherein the weight ratio of (a) to (b) is from 1:9 to 9:1.
