Abstract
A personal protective device is disclosed. The personal protective device comprises at least one energy-activated material, disposed within or on the personal protective device. The energy activated material changes reversibly changes at least a portion of the personal protective device from a first visual zone to a second visual zone when the personal protective device is exposed to an activation energy. An earplug, a pair of earmuffs, a respirator, and eyewear are also disclosed. A method for determining the fit of a personal protective device is also disclosed.
Claims38
A personal protective device, comprising:
- a personal protective device;
- and
- at least one energy activated material, disposed within or on said personal protective device, said at least one energy activated material reversibly changing at least a portion of said personal protective device from a first visual zone to a second visual zone when said personal protective device is exposed to an activation energy.
An earplug, comprising:
- at least one energy activated material, disposed within or on said earplug, said at least one energy activated material reversibly changing at least a portion of said earplug from a first visual zone to a second visual zone when said earplug is exposed to an activation energy.
A pair of earmuffs, comprising:
- at least one earmuff;
- and
- at least one energy activated material, disposed within or on at least one cushion of said earmuff, said at least one energy activated material reversibly changing at least a portion of said cushion from a first visual zone to a second visual zone when said cushion is exposed to an activation energy.
A respirator, comprising:
- a respirator having a mask;
- and
- at least one energy activated material, disposed within or on said mask, said
- at least one energy activated material reversibly changing at least a portion of said mask from a first visual zone to a second visual zone when said mask is exposed to an activation energy.
A pair of eyewear comprising:
- a pair of eyewear;
- and
- at least one energy activated material, disposed within or on at least one cushion of said pair of eyewear, said at least one energy activated material reversibly changing at least a portion of said cushion from a first visual zone to a second visual zone when said cushion is exposed to an activation energy.
A method for determining the fit of a personal protective device, comprising:
- fitting a personal protective device on a wearer, said personal protective device having an energy activated material on or within said personal protective device;
- and
- determining a fit when said energy activated material reversibly changes from a first visual zone to a second visual zone when said personal protective device is exposed to an activation energy.
