Abstract
A fitment adapted to cover and reinforce an exposed edge of a container and facilitate the loading of the container with material. Alternatively, the fitment may be integrally formed with the container to be filled. The fitment includes a generally planar surface having a peripheral edge and an apertured cover hingedly attached thereto. A loading ledge, able to support heavy material to be loaded, is provided when the apertured cover is in the open position. The peripheral edge further includes a ramped portion to support the opened cover and material. Apertures in the fitment allow passage of material from the ledge into the container.
Claims37
A fitment for covering and reinforcing an exposed edge of a first container and temporarily supporting a second container of material to be transferred to said first container from said second container, the fitment comprising:
- a generally planar surface having a peripheral portion formed there about, said peripheral portion engagable with said exposed edge;
- said generally planar surface having an opening formed therein to accept said material and an apertured cover hingedly attached to said generally planar surface such that said cover can be rotated between an opened position and a closed position relative to said opening;
- means for securing said peripheral portion to said exposed edge;
- an integrally formed upright rim peripherally located adjacent to the opening of said cover;
- and
- a removable closure lid, arranged be seated on said upright rim.
A fitment for an edge of at least one container capable of supporting, at least temporarily, a receptacle structure;
- said receptacle structure holding at least one predetermined material for addition to said container, the fitment comprising:
- at least one surface having a peripheral portion, said peripheral portion capable of engaging said edge;
- said surface including at least one opening and a cover structure rotationally coupled to said surface.
A fitment for use with a container for receiving a load of material, said fitment comprising:
- a supporting web and opening;
- said fitment having a shape substantially conforming to a contour of the container with which the fitment is to be used;
- said supporting web being circumjacent said opening and including a ramp structure having a downward slope extending toward said opening;
- said supporting web including a surface for supporting said load of material;
- whereby said load of material may be placed on said surface and a predetermined portion of said load of material may be transferred through said opening into said container.
A fitment for use with a container for receiving a load of material, said fitment comprising:
- a supporting web,
- an opening, and a channel;
- said container having at least one open end including at least one edge structure;
- said channel engagable with said edge structure;
- said fitment including a slot having an opening;
- said supporting web capable of being extended and retracted through said slot;
- whereby when said supporting web is extended through said slot said opening is presented.
A fitment for use with a container for receiving a load of material, said fitment comprising a supporting web, a hinge structure and a channel;
- said container having at least one open end including at least one edge structure;
- said channel engagable with said edge structure;
- said fitment being hingedly coupled to said supporting web at said hinge structure;
- said supporting web including a stop structure;
- said fitment including an abutment structure;
- said stop structure engagable with said abutment structure;
- whereby engagement of said stop structure with said abutment structure places said supporting web in position to receive a load.
A fitment for use with a container for receiving a load of material, said fitment comprising a supporting web, a slot, a hinge mechanism and a channel;
- said container having at least one open end including at least one edge structure;
- said channel engagable with said edge structure;
- said fitment including a slot;
- aid supporting web rotatably coupled to said fitment at said hinge mechanism;
- said slot having sufficient size and spatially orientation so that said supporting web may be rotated on said hinge mechanism and extended out of said slot and retracted back through said slot;
- whereby when said supporting web is extended through said slot said opening is presented and when said supporting web is retracted through said slot said open end is closed and said container is covered.
A fitment for use with a container for receiving a load of material, said fitment comprising a supporting web surface and a channel;
- said container having at least one open end including at least one edge structure;
- said channel engagable with at least one portion of said edge structure;
- said channel located on a first fitment surface substantially opposite said supporting web surface.
A fitment for use with a container for receiving a load of material,
- said fitment comprising a hinge structure, a bearing pin structure, a supporting web surface, a bracket, and a channel;
- said container having at least one open end including at least one edge structure;
- said bearing pin structure mounted to said container;
- said channel engagable with at least one portion of said edge structure;
- said channel located on a first fitment surface substantially opposite said supporting web surface;
- said fitment including an inside rim surface;
- said container including an inside surface;
- a lockable collapsible bracket coupled to said inside rim surface at said hinge structure and to said container at said bearing pin structure;
- said bearing pin structure slidably engaged with said bracket;
- said fitment pivotally coupled to said bracket at hinge structure;
- whereby said fitment may be lifted off of said edge of said container until said bearing pin structure engages a distal end stop structure of said bracket.

- a generally planar surface having a peripheral portion formed there about;
- said peripheral portion integrally formed with said edge;
- said generally planar surface having an opening formed therein to accept said material and an apertured cover hingedly attached to said generally planar surface such that said cover can be rotated between an opened position and a closed position relative to said opening;
- an integrally formed upright rim peripherally located adjacent to the opening of said cover;
- and
- a removable closure lid, arranged be seated on said upright rim.

- a generally planar surface having a peripheral portion formed thereabout;
- said peripheral portion engagable with said edge;
- said generally planar surface having an opening formed therein to accept said material and an apertured cover hingedly attached to said generally planar surface such that said cover can be rotated between an opened portion and a closed position relative to said opening;
- an integrally formed upright rim peripherally located adjacent to the opening of said cover;
- and
- a removable closure lid, arranged to be seated on said upright rim.
